HANGOVER HOUSE SAX ROHMER

HILARY BRUTON was usually gay, very lovely – and extremely wealthy. When she started acting mysteriously, her father retained Storm Kennedy, private investigator, to protect her and discover the reason for her fearful actions.
Kennedy follows Hilary to a party at Hangover House. There on the steps of the terrace Peter Faraway, the host, discovers the body of a man – a man no one knows – stabbed in the chest with a jeweled dagger. Before the police arrive, Kennedy examines the body and finds a small handkerchief and a woman’s footprints on the murder scene. He pockets the handkerchief and eradicates the footprints.
Later, Hilary admits that the handkerchief he found is hers. In attempting to shield Hilary, Kennedy ends up as a prime suspect. In the midst of police questioning there suddenly appears on the stairway the ghostly apparition of the man who was stabbed. He points to Hilary and collapses.
Sax Rohmer, creator of the insidious Doctor Fu
Manchu, repeats his earlier successes in this suspense-packed tale of murder that grew out of a secret too deadly to share!
