The novel follows Grace Marcal, a woman described as having a “body no man could resist,” who uses her sexuality indiscriminately. When she is thrown out by her partner, she flees to Mexico, where she becomes involved with the “fast international set”. She is set up by a rich man named Juan Torres, but she becomes fixated on winning the attention of the aloof Felix Hidalgo, the one man who seems immune to her charms.
