The plot of Wayward Angel follows private investigator Rocky Nevins, who has a murder rap to beat and is tasked with finding a missing heiress. The heiress is a willful young woman described as having “more beauty than brains” and “more courage than common sense”. The investigation takes Nevins through a seedy underbelly of blackmail, nightclubs, and shady characters, and potentially to Mexico.
